I have missed this site, its good to get home. I did not get a chance to tell you guys i was going on my yearly elk hunt near Pagosa Springs Colorado, last week. I was a little down because I broke my foot 2 weeks prior and I have had to wear one of those funny booties, what bummed me out was that I could not walk around as much i liked to when i got there because of the pain, I usually walk 90% of the day, the elk move around alot and I always had better odds of walking and finding them, rather that sitting. Well after the first day i realized I had to take it easy and sit, I went the whole first 3 and a half days without seeing an animal, not even a mulie. Then on Tuesday the 4th day of the 6 days we hunt around 2:00 pm, The Lord answered my prayer and sent me a bull close to camp. I was so nervous I thought I would miss, I could not stop shaking, he came in with 3 cows at 35 yards. I calmed down just enough and hit him right above the heart with my .308, he didnt even leave my sight before he started getting woozy, then he started coming closer, I shot again at 20 yards and missed, I was shaking so bad, I was just soo excited and could not calm down. but that didnt matter because he collapsed a minute later from the result of first shot. Man was I pumped, I never seen an elk last year, So this felt great. He is my 3rd bull but he is the biggest i have ever got. I started in taxidermy a few years ago, and I am excited as i am going to do this one myself. What a fun hunt. My brother in law watched over the deer herd for me, there were no issues except a doe broke her front leg, she will be fine, but of course she is my favorite and most expensive. Here is a picture of the bull i was blessed enough to harvest, there is plenty of good eating this winter

Nice bull. Were you hunting the first or second season? We hunted the first season and the bulls were still going crazy. It was just awesome sitting there in the dark on the first morning with bulls just screaming all around you. It had to be about the most fun Ive had in all the years we have been going. There was six of us that went and we ended up getting six bulls.

Nice bulls, that is great you went 6/6. I was out in the second season, one guy heard them bugle the night before the season, but they are usually always quiet by then.
