I just read the Iowa deer harvest was the lowest its been since 2006, down the*8th straight year. Way to go QDMA, that's what happens when you preach day in and day out to shoot as many does as you can for a "healthy" herd. I guess it makes it easier to sell magazines selling foodplot seed when people are desperate to try and bring back the deer population they used to have. The problem with that theory is: Most people shoot the first antlerless deer on the field and it's usually a button buck. It's a fact that at least 1 in 3 antlerless deer are actually bucks and that number is most likely higher because most people won't admit it when they shot a button buck or fawn. Future trophy bucks, gone.**They don't seem to factor in the predator numbers are doubling in most states and that means fawn*recruitment numbers are also going to be twice as low. Eventually you hit the point that fawn recruitment and the number of producing does that make it to the next year are*below the number taken by hunters each year, it's simple math,*numbers decline, harvests decline. This is where most states are right now, numbers continue to decline and they still need to sell licenses to make money for there budgets. It's hard for them to change because that would be admitting they were doing something wrong over the last 8 years. Heck, if we look hard enough and find a CWD animal and we can hype it up and blame it on that. The problem with the DNR controlling the wild deer is that 95% or more of*them live on private lands in the Midwest. These DNR orgs. see there numbers and quality decline and*the captive herds continues to improve and become more and*more*accepted.* Most people actually do want to see and shoot some deer when they go deer hunting. Seldom does anything run by the gov't work like it's intended. Private business and people simply do things better and the liberals can't stand that.

On Iowa news they said deer harvest 2013 was 100,000 deer lowest it has been since 1995.

*DNR said there hands were tied and still*need to reduce deer population due to crop damage and car accidents.

Wish we could get them off our backs that easy.

So why are the numbers down? What are they doing to encourage hunting and promote it, make it as easy as possible??? Marketing was never DNR's strong suit.

*The Iowa dnr*has been*having public meetings lately looking *for the publics input. I don't know why just wasting their time and money again bottom line is the governor will do what he wants. Like last year when the dnr recommended that Iowa cut the quotas he just ignored them. Too bad we couldn't all just ignore the whole government sometimes.*
