Missouri-bound elk pass first of several health tests

"Testing will ensure Missouri's wildlife and livestock remain healthy." THESE ELK ARE BEING IMPORTED WITHOUT MEETING ALL OF THE APPROVED TESTS AND MONITORING THAT WOULD ENSURE ONLY HEALTHY ELK ARE BEING IMPORTED!

Hey, does this mean I can start importing non-monitored CWD deer if I have a vet do this test? I DON"T THINK SO!!!!!!!

Let's see what excuses they come up with. I thought everyone was supposed to be equal in this whole testing thing. If I have to do it, why don't they!!! 5 Years Monitoring Minimum on CWD for an animal to get into Missouri.

And a live CWD test, never heard of that yet. I got to get into government stuff so I can make up my own rules as I go along. I hate to say it, but we're taking it in the rear-end again.

Why should I have to spend all this money and time not to mention stress on my animals for testing if they don't.

Let's see how many more they kill before they either give it up, or ask someone who really knows what's goin on for help.

Can't wait to see what Sam has to say about all this. Sam and Bill told us they would try to do this, get around all our restrictions and make up their own rules to make it easier on their pocket books and themselves.

What a crock!!!!!

the live CWD test that is in testing and development is only about 85-90% accurate and gives some false positives , they are working on a CWD vaccine but trials are about two years away

I see a very bad situation coming for the MDC. I think someone might have to file an injunction to stop this or they should let cervid breeders run under their rules of importation? What do you think. I also think there could be grounds for a class action suit for all of the testing and monitoring expenses we as cervid farmers have incurred over the years. Just a my thought. We could stop this until they have a better system or ease up on us. Just like they did with the wind mills a few months ago that might kill the eagles in the area. Any one read about that?

I don't know how many hundreds of Elk the DNR of KY and TN imported into their states during the Elk restoration and with no tests and they all came from CWD positive states!!!!! I guess there waiting for CWD to show up, then blame the deer farmers!

Note: TN doesn't allow deer farming.

Cervid: Deer Farming
I personally believe that CWD is in all states in the wild and it is just a matter of time before they find it. It just depends on how hard they are looking for it - how many deer they are testing.

That they can have different standards to import elk or deer is ridiculous. Since their whole theory is that moving deer or elk around from state to state is what brought CWD in - which is wrong - why would they do what they claim is the problem? Someone needs to call them out on this.
