As most of you know, for several years, the SGRA has been actively involved with the FFA in Louisiana and on a National level. Our adopted chapter is Ponchatoula High School. Next week they will be attending the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis IN. The National FFA Convention is second in size to only the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. The Ag-Science teachers and staff at PHS have opened their ciricular to include game ranching and considers our participation in their program, essential to the growth of the Agriculture industry in Louisiana and the U.S.

I have attached a letter from Alice Dubois that showcases the success of the program at PHS and National recognition of their program. The SGRA is an intergral part of the program at PHS and in her interview with U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, Mrs. Dubois explained our participation. It is encouraging to learn that our efforts have been recognized in Washington D.C. and that the game ranch industry is getting some well-needed positive publicity.

Scott Heinrich, Exec. Dir. Southeastern Game Ranch Association.

Subject: U.S. Secretary of Education will be recognizing Ponchatoula FFA next week

I just had an amazing experience that I would like to share with you! This morning we received a call at school from Washington, D.C.! The caller was the speech writer for our U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, asking for more information about the Agriscience/FFA program at Ponchatoula High School. We were told Mr. Duncan knew about our program and was aware of many of our activities including our work with students with disabilities. He wanted more information so he could use it in a speech he is giving next week in Indianapolis, Indiana as the Keynote Speaker for the Opening Session of the National FFA Convention. Not only will there be over 50,000 in attendance, but this speech will also be broadcast streaming live on <http://www.ffa.org/ www.ffa.org<http://www.ffa.org and can also be seen on RFD-TV.

Thank you for your support of the Ponchatoula FFA. We are so proud of our students and what they have accomplished.
