Last thoughts, Since 1999 there has been "new" people come into the industry, put up some fence, buy some deer and become an "expert" on this industry and how to save it overnight. In a couple years when they didnt get rich or get their way they quit, this has happened over and over and over. It has been really distracting for those of us who have fought this from day one. The legislators (the ones on our side) have more than once threatened to walk away from us if we could not control these wild cards from stirring the pot who really dont know what is going on and whats needed to be done to save the entire industry. We have had the right attorney, the right legislators and the right people in general helping us WIN this thing for the long haul for everyone. The only thing for sure is we will have future battles, future wildcards and a group of individuals who are methodically keeping this thing alive. There may become a day when damage lawsuits are brought to the table, but the primary goal was to save the industry and we did just that. Who knows what the DNR or Legislature may do in the coming months. They may introduce legislation to shut the industry down, if they do we will depend on the knowledge and relationships we have built over the last 15 years to help combat it. If anyone wants to join this fight who has genuine concern for the industry and works with the team we welcome them with open arms. Gotta get things ready for hunters now.

Dennis,

yes this is a victory but I think far from over. The last gov was vehemently against us and who knows what kind of feelings he has left behind in this administration. I don't think anyone should pound their chest until we have something concrete that would give old and new preserve operators some breathing room. This decision gives breathing room for operating preserves for now. Nobody in their right mind would spend the money it takes to open a new preserve in Indiana unless they already have the land. There are A LOT of people in this state exiting the deer farming business. New people that want to help fight for this industry should be welcomed in this industry because obviously there are those that don't want to fight and are bowing out. Strength is in numbers and those numbers sadly are getting smaller.

todays article that will appear in the Indy star, you tell me if it is over.

Jerrilee,

There will never be anything in concrete as laws and regulations will always be subject to change. Enjoy the win and be prepared to fight again if government tries to abuse the industry.

Its stupid to fight amongst yourselves. We're all allies for the common good of the cervid farming industry on here.

The DNR in every state is the most overreaching borderline (perhaps not so borderline) criminal organization that exists.

Thank god that my state got some common sense took deer farming jurisdiction away from the DNR and gave it to the Dep. of Ag.

Good luck in your fight and I hope Phil Bloom chokes on a chicken bone. (I know he is just a pawn but, some times it feels good to shoot the messenger instead of your allies)

p.s. here is some info about him in case you were wondering what books to never buy yet still leave a terrible review for http://www.amazon.com/Phil-Bloom/e/B...ntt_dp_epwbk_0

Give it a try, it feels good:

We have way too much government, people that don't produce anything and don't accomplish anything of real value, just drawing*a government check!
