From personal experience, Australians mostly eat at home. Of course, sometimes we go to restaurants, for example, here's a guide for where to go to eat in my city: Lunch Fortitude Valley - Where to Go . The Australian diet is generally very varied and provides a great example of fusion cooking.

In a typical week, I will buy Chicken, beef and / or beef mince, lamb / lamb mince, pork, fish, eggs. These will be cooked in a variety of ways curry, casserole, barbecue, stir-fries, lots of one-pot with vegetables, and a vegetarian dish or fried rice is thrown in once a week for good measure.

When we go out we tend to go looking for things I don’t cook at home, so Yum Cha, Japanese (except sushi, we make our own), Thai or Nepalese.

Every now and then, in memory of the old Cafe feeds in the olden days, our youth, we’ll have Mums ’Cafe special - Meat Pie, Mashed Spud, Peas n gravy n tomato sauce.
