Has anyone used dr davis from Pennsylvania for there lap Ai?

My opinion is as long as you use a program that will make your does come in heat and ovulate at 58 to 60 hours you can use almost anyone trained in LAP AI.* My personal experience just this last year with a Doctor that did sheep only was that I told him they all look the same inside and it was up to me to set up the does.* He did as well as any body with the lap ai for me last year on my does.* He will be doing my work again in November.* Just an opinion.

Jack, I'd have to agree with what I have heard from folks doing sheep and goats in my area!


But not really sure why anyone would do Lap A/I anymore? I NEVER had results anywhere close to the 100 % I had last few years with just plain ol Vaginal breeding..............Not to mention cost comparison!

I never did Lap either. Most years had great success vaginal. Given what limited info I have about Lap it is riskier, more expensive and not anymore successful.

One plus doing Lap I guess is the ability to split straws more times. Semen isn't that costly anymore though so why bother unless your just a cheap skate.

I would like to try sexed semen but my understanding is that requires Lap so I won't do it. Personally I think sexed semen as it is today is a scam. AI techs want everyone doing Lap so they can charge more and farms can't do their own AI. So sexed semen is packed so it can't be used vaginaly. Plus they charge crazy prices to process the semen.

Roger, I have often thought along the same lines you are. It's around $7000 give or take some, just to sex the semen but costs a fraction of that to have a buck drawn.. I have heard they can sex a collection in less than 5 hrs... I don't know the truth in that just a rumor.

I have told many guys that they can do their own AI vaginal.* Some have had great success there first time out at 100%.* Deer are very easy to breed and most will take even if you just put the semen just at the cervix.


I had to do LAP on the sheep hybrids I made when crossing wild bighorn to domestic sheep as that is the only way they will take.* The domestic sheep and goat guys will do LAP AI for 30 to 50 dollars a head.* Just a FYI


I only do the breeding this way because I can no longer do my own AI due to no cartilage left in my shoulders.. The joys of old age I guess.

As if I need to explain myself but I have straws of shadow ,free agent,stickers and pa Geronimo that I be damned if I would just split them 2 ways or none at all if I was using 100 dollar straws then yes I would do vag but I'm not. And I didn't ask if anyone aproved of me using lap Ai I can and have done my own vag Ai but not with this semen

Jack I value everyone's opinion I'm just saying I have to split that better semen 3 ways to afford it. But I just asked if anyone used this doctor not if I should lap Ai or not. I've learned from you , Rodger and many others about vag Ai .
