I would like to get some opinions on antler maximizer. I have heard of shock effect and top score. Has anyone used these and if so what are your thoughts? I had a visit from a peserve owner and he could not believe how great my 2 yr. Olds looked without any top dressing. He said that I used it it would add upwards of 100" per deer. I find that hard to believe but he had nothing to gain by feeding me a line. My 2yr olds averaged 180" to 200". I would appericate some thoughts. Thank you

100" would be a stretch.* Probably a huge stretch.* With that being said, any product that can increase antler growth is worth a shot.**Obviously, if the deer don't have good genetics, they are not going to develop large antlers, no matter what product you use.* I use Shock Effect and Head Gear.*

Also anyone feed alfalfa with their regular feed? If so do you just feed it in the winter months or year round?

How much chaffhaye do you feed per head per day? What do you think of feeding small clover bales?

My pens are mostly clover. I just put chaffhaye in and let them eat it until it's gone. They love it. They don't eat alot.in green seasons. But winter they kill it

I am a big fan of Top Score. The C&E products have been developed for more than 30 years. I like that kind of track record. There is a 100% chance that by adding anything to feed, your deer will not add 100 inches per deer. Good luck. Sounds like you already have a nice group of deer.

Thank you all for all the advice and insight. I really appreciate it. It gets kind of overwhelming and intimidating when you start looking at all the different feeds and additives and im sure everyone wants to do what's best for the deer and the pocket book. Thanks again

I find it very hard to believe you can expect that much if any jump. I tried it for one year and saw little if any results.

Josh did you mean to say that no additive will add 100"?

We have been using Mass XL for several years. The product is all natural and affordable. For us it is producing early antler growth and high density antlers that are very dark. The 39% protein and high amounts of amino acids naturally promotes antler growth. Our whitetail are very typical large frames averaging 190+ at 2 yrs. when we side by side experiment and cut out the Mass XL we lose about 20" in our yearlings and 35-40" in our 2 year olds. As a preserve owner we buy a lot of "mutts" that are 140" 5 year olds. We are 100% able to add 20-30" in a single season. There is a drawback in that some deer that are developed by the end of July seem to turn the surplus proteins into stickers and drops. We have one 2 year old here now with 2 to 3 stickers on each of his 14 main frame points. The other problem is because Mass XL is harvested in August and needed in April thru July , you need to order early to make sure you get your inventory for the season.

I guess that in the back of my mind when I seen yearlings at 300" to 400" and beyond I assumed they had to be pumping something into those deer. But then again if that was possible everyone would have 400" 2 yr olds or someone has a secret as big as the fountain of youth,

16.5-18% is plenty of protein. I have seen 350-400 inch deer grown on 12-14% protein feed.
