Just wondering who uses oil drilling pipe for fence post and what diameter did you use. Also what should a guy expect to pay per for for used pipe? Thanks

We've used it on our newest pens. 3" stuff for corners and smaller for line and cross bracing. I believe the stuff was 30'+ joints and ran about $1.00 per ft. For the 3" and less for smaller. Hope this helps.

i've used it on my fence, all been built in the last three years. price in ks depends on condition. last year the 2 7/8 O.D. (3 in) was 1.59 a ft. the 2 3/8 O.D. (2.5 in) was 1.39. this is for there best pipe. no holes, structurally sound. it is probably overkill but i used 3in for my corners and about half my line posts, spaced up to 20 ft.my pens allow .1 acre per deer. i have plans for 6-8 hd of does and three pens to grow bucks in. along with a coulpe extra pens to hold misc. hd of 3 to 4 deer each. i used 3 in vertical spacing wire. the only reason is because i don't plan to rebuild any of my pens, and i hope i can do this for the next 30 years!

like anything, when i started building cattle pens from it fifteen years ago, it was pretty much free if you knew someone in the oilfield. but once it is known it has value, then the price goes up!

We used 2 7/8 drill pipe for all of our corners and braces as well as our gate frames.

We bought 1000 feet for .75 a foot.

Trying to contact this gentleman, we need 2000 more feet of pipe.

Works great everyone that has looked at our pens loves them.

We used 11 foot pipe 2 feet deep 1 bag cement per hole.

we only used pipe for the corners and braces. We used 10 ft t-post every 13 feet between the corners

Hope this helps.

That is all I would use. Cut them 12 feet and drive 4 feet in the ground.

I used a pneumatic post driver and air compressor from RSC. I have sandy soil and drove them 5 feet deep.
