New to Deer Herds

So, I have been in the exotic deer business for many years, have been "keeping them alive" on a property owned by someone else, but now I got a wild hair and bought a piece of property of my own and it is a little bit overwhelming. Mostly because I don't want to just "keep them alive" like alot of people do. I want a nice herd that maintains size and growth. I need some "expert" advice from those of you that have a good grasp on land, whitetails, and keeping everything in order.

The property is 275 acres in East Texas and the deer that are on the place are mostly breeders with 2-3 years of no new releases. The breeder bucks (tagged deer) are still huge, we have great bucks. The deer born on the ranch, they seem to be doing well, but they don't seem to be as great in the antler department. I am currently feeding antlermax breeder and they are eating me out of house and home, about 2000 lbs a week (yes it is on free feed. All Seasons Evo Series). I have corn feeders going as well as food plots (about 16.5 acres in total of plots).

With that out of the way, a basic rundown, what do I need to do on this property to keep the herd healthy and to not only keep them alive, but also to have an amazing herd of deer? I know there are many opinions when it comes to these things, but I am open to all opinions. Just trying to get a good basis to start with. Thanks in advance for all your help and advice.

Cervid: Whitetail
Go tour some local deer farms and see what they're feeding. While feed is important, genetics are the only way to increase antler size by any large increase.
