Anybody out there ever freeze their red cap milk before feeding it to your fawns?* Sam's Club is the cheapest source I can find but the closest one is 70 miles away.* I would need to buy large quantities and freeze it if that will work.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks....Bill

I freeze Red Cap every year, and have never had a problem. The milk seems to separate a little when frozen and thawed, but a good shaking takes care of that. be sure to take about twelve ounces. out of the jug first to allow for expansion. Also be sure the whole jug is thawed before feeding to get a good mix when ya shake it. Good Luck, Allen

Thanks.* Great info.* I can save $1.50 per gallon if I can freeze it without creating a problem for the fawns.* Usually takes me about 25 gallon per fawn.*

Does it matter if the milk is a week or two out of date as long as it was frozen in date?

BMAYES, I have been freezing Redcap for about six weeks now. As long as it is in date when you freeze it it will be fine.

Gotta love deer farmers who test on kids first. Now that's some funny stuff.
