Well some good news happened this morning. Nate and I were out doing a herd check and came across twin Maxbo Hardcore fawns. One buck fawn and a doe fawn in terrific health. What more could you ask for. Well a new thing we are doing this year with taggin fawns, is that instead of writing EVERYTHING on paper, now we can enter all the fawns’ information on our smart phones…..for example Iphone, HTC Hero… Richard at Apple Creek Whitetails made a mobile app for the Whitetail Quest Total Ranch Management System, it pretty much eliminates my paper work load. Therefore, the wind wont be blowin papers out the window anymore, or hiding underneath the seat. Basically, when I entered the information this morning it went directly into the Quest Management System. Which saves me time doing paperwork, leaves less room for errors, and its all tied into one central hub. Instead of sitting at the desk doing paperwork, we can be out checking the health of the herd. All the information is right in the palm of your hand. I wish you all a healthy fawning season!!

Any body have any great fawns on the ground yet???

What platforms is the app available on? How do you get the app?

hey joe,

Currently were testing out all the different phones, and also getting through the testing phases of the Quest Management Information System. You can give Richard a call at 1-512-695-2272 and he can give you a demo about the program and its features. If its a technical question that is your go to guy.

Sounds right my alley. Kind of a "High tech Redneck". And being new to this whole thing I need all the help I can get.

Hey Joe, just wanted to thank you for letting me tag along with you on Friday when you needed to vaccinate, tag and pull the fawns that were just born. That was very exciting for me and I do appreciate it. For all of you deer farmers out there that have not contacted Rich for a demo of the new management system, i highly recommend that you do. It is so awesome!!!

Sounds like a good idea as long as you keep hard copies later on. I wouldn't use the Iphone as it has no external memory card. So if phone crashes as they all do, there goes your data.

Dear Midwest,

You are correct that the iPhone does not have an external storage device.

However, Whitetail Quest's Mobile Applications were designed and built to NOT store any information on the phones themselves.

When someone pulls up our Fawn Tagging App, they will enter the information on the smart phone screen and as soon as they hit the sumbit button, the data is instanly transfered off the phone and onto the server that stores the information.

That's the beauty of this system. Right now the current Farm Management Programs requires the farmer to preform back ups of their system. Our new management software runs on an Enterprise Server in Dallas, TX. Each night, the server preforms a backup for the farmer. It then sends a copy of the backup to another secure server in a different state.

Your phone could crash, your computer could crash and the data can be restored instantly from two locations across the country.

This system uses the Internet as a funnel to access data to any device that can connect to the Internet. Industries across the country have been using similar systems for the past 10 years. We chose to develop and utilize this very advanced technology for the deer industry.

This will work on any version of Windows or Mac, it is networkable, and can be accessed anywhere in the world.

This system will also allow you to print all records for a paper backup if you wish!!!

Thanks for you great question Midwest.

But you need to have cell phone service to make this work I would imagine - it is very spotty in our area.

Gary,

We use Verizon, ATT and Cell Com with great success. We have been giving tours all week and to be asked who is that yearling or 2 year old? and within 10 seconds give the visitor the pedigree last year score width, photos of father, grandfather any offspring, # straws collected and how the quality of semen tested. This is a real tool that delivers.

Gary if you have interest we can drive up and show you and Jane.

HI GARY AND JANE,

Scott asked me to offer my services as their cellular provider. Cellcom would be more than happy to have you try our service because we have good reception in the Laona area. Applecreek Whitetails or myself would be able to let you use one our phones to see if it would work in your area. We won't know what your reception would be unless you try one of our phones. According to our map, it should work. There will be no cost to try our service. Scott would like your business to be able to take advantage of the programs available. Please let me know or Scott know if you would be interested.

Thank you,

Clay and shannon,

Thanks for your interest in Quest information System. Tonight Apple Creek went live with our Quest fawn feeding pack. No more paper work. Just click of our phone it tells you what fawns how many to feed. You click on how the poop looked. (5 choices) every thing you wanted to track and all the ability to make custom for you. This was faster than filling out our old tracking sheets I will have Richard contact you soon. If any one is interested please post and will set you up for a tour.
