Seems like alot of corn in that mix. Mine would be loose as a goose with that much. When i mix mine i only have 400lbs of corn per ton!

One thing with feed is that you must remember if you don't put in a good product you will not get a good product out!* We had trouble with our does 2 years ago after fawning losing weight.* We actually had to pull fawns off early or the does were going to die.*

We started out with having Producers in Louisville mixing our feed (where I was getting my horse feed) and they looked fine.* They started jacking me around on delivering my feed and I started getting my feed mixed else where.* That is where the problem began with the same recipe.* We now get our feed mixed at Kalmbach(same co. that makes heartland feeds) out of Sandusky, OH*and we have a different looking herd.* It has now been 2 years since we made that move.***They may cost a few more dollars per ton but the transformation has been unbelievable on the same feed recipe.* Some feed companies buy less that average quality grain products for their feed and others buy the best out there.* That difference is why I think that there has been such a change in body condition.* They look better than when we were feeding probiotics with the prior*feed.

The thing I like about getting our feed mixed as opposed to buying an already prepared feed is that I can change the % protein for 16 to 18 percent in March when the does really need that extra protein for late pregnancy and when the bucks are growing and the does are nursing, *then I back it down to 16% in August when they are done growing and it is time to wean babies off the does. The reason for backing down the protein is 50 cents a bag.

I use ADM's pellet, and add one small bucket of rolled soybeans per bag, plus garlic powder and probiotic powder. My deer have always looked good, healthy fawns , great antler growth.

We use Antlermax 20 and add a little corn to it. We also feed alfalfa in the winter. We've been using it for about 10 years now.

Jerilee I agree. I like the opportunities to switch my protein. I can save up to $100 per ton in the winter when I cut down to 12-14%. The deer maintain great condition all year, even when I cut back the protein from September until March. I actually feed mostly calf starter sweet feed all winter. They love it., in the summer I improve it to 19%. Trays are licked clean all year round, and I still get giant bodies and antlers. It's working for me. I would love to post my mix, but it's on an index card at my mill and I can't remember all the little details of the mix. I will try and get it posted on here next time I go to get feed.

Wild Rivers how much corn do you add to the antlermax? Our local mill has it for about $16 for 50#. How much corn would you add to a 50# bag? Thanks for the info, we only feed a few deer
