I'm in the military and want to start an elk farm when I get out. I'll be stationed in Texas pretty soon and then in Maryland shortly after that. I would really like to visit some elk farms near San Angelo, TX and Fort Meade, MD while I'm in those locations. Does anyone know of any close by? I've tried searching the net for some but the ones I find are too far from where I'll be stationed. Thanks in advance.

Eric,

Just asking why elk? The elk market took a heavy hit when the cwd was found in the States........But if it's a passion of yours then go for it!!

I would recommend whitetail. They eat less and cost more.

I'm not exactly sure why elk to be honest. I was just drawn to them. I've also considered whitetails as well, but mainly as an extension of the elk farm. I have heard about the CWD problem as well and wanted to talk to a few farmers about how it has affected them.

I'd actually like to visit a few whitetail farms as well to see how they are ran.
