| Healthcare is a Private Thing
Actually there was only one reason policies had to be cancelled and that was because they didn't comply with the MEC, and they were relatively rare.
. . and, as I have already said, about 85% of those were issued with policies that did comply with the MEC at no extra cost, (or if they attracted subsidies, at lower premiums)
So, not only did they get cover, but it was better.
It did, however mean that many of the younger high income people who thought they were going to live forever and therefore didn't take out cover that was reasonable, had to join the rest of the country and not rely on the taxpayer to bail them out if they did have a bad accident or got very sick.
I feel sure you agree that people who can easily afford it, should pay their fair share and not rely on poorer tax payers to bail them out, don't you?
