Deer and cold temperatures

I'm curious if anyone has had health problems with deer because of extreme cold weather. Calling for high temp of -12 and windchill between -20 to -30 below tomorrow. Thankfully it's only suppose to last a couple days.

Here in Montana we have had those temps with no real problems if the deer are healthy or haven't been sedated. My deer need shelters and wind breaks and they use them when cold or if we have rain with North wind. Very late fawns with poor hair coats will not do well and freeze to death. ALWAYS HAVE FOOD IN FRONT OF THEM WHEN IT'S COLD because that is what keeps them warm but don't give extra grain just good hay and the regular amount of grain.
We are at minus 21 with wind chills of minus 50 for tonight.
We have had these temps in years past with no big problems.

Jack is correct. Over the years I found deer do better with cold temps than when it is too warm. However they NEED wind breaks and have to be dry. Also if you have bottle fed does refrain from petting them if they have snow or moisture on the hair. You disrupt their built in insulation.

I've never had a problem with the extreme cold the only thing i have problems with is in the spring and fall when it s 35 raining and windy it seems like i have some get sick if we get that kinda weather. It it's just rain or just wind they do good but combine them and its can be tough on them
