Has anyone used goat dewormer pellets to worm your deer? If not what is the best method without having to put them down? Thanks

Goat dewormer works good. Safegaurd makes a balanced pellet you can use. Another method would be to put Ivermectin pour on over corn and let dry in th sun on a tarp. Then hand feed it over about 3-5 days. Mix about 250 ml per 50 lb bag. Just follow the instructions for consumption depending on many head you have.

You can do the same with Valbazen, pour on feed, let dry and trough feed it. BUT - do not give Valbazen to bred doe. Fawns, bucks, does nursing babies all fine, but NOT bred. The possibility of birth defects has not been ruled out in pregnant animals.

The Safeguard pellet is an alfalfa pellet, coated in wormer, so they eat it pretty well.

Or, you can use the MaxRax or other brand feed that offer a wormer mix.

There are also some types that can be put in the water supply, but I have not used any so can't make a specific recommendation.

Be sure to rotate products, so that you don't allow your herd to develop a super-worm that becomes resistant to one particular wormer.

Wormers containing ivermectin or fenbendazole are fine for pregnant animals, it is the albendazole that is in question. As for how often, I think it just depends on what you have going on in your pens. I am sure everone has their own program, I worm the entire herd at least 2 times a year, but this year, because we have had so much rain, I have wormed some individual deer as often as every 5 or 6 weeks. I get fecal samples and if I see eggs, they get wormed according to what I find.
