fawn eating feces

As I posted earlier I am bottle feeding some of my fawns, the trouble is I have one that is eating his poop & the other fawns also, so he is by him self for now, has any one had this problem? if so how can I get him to stop? as soon as I turn him back in with the other fawns he gets the runs, it is like never ending. This has been one crazy yr. v_hedrick

Wow in all the years of raising deer this would be a new one to me. Never had a fawn doing that. I assume you have protein or feed pellets in the pen for him. And have you tried increasing how much milk it gets? Maybe add some extra probiotics to that bottle for added protection. Good luck.

Spray their backside with Vinegar/hot sauce mix after each feeding.

I took his post as the fawn was eating the poop of the ground not licking the others butts.

Since his post said the fawn was eating his own poop I'd say in all my life I have never seen a deer lick his own butt.

Deer lick their own butt all the time. That wouldn't be unusual.

I bow to the experts that believe a deer can poop and eat it at the same time. Truly impressive. Obviously you guys know more than anyone else. You should be proud.

Sonny it must really suck being you. Not able to take real and honest advice and input even when you asked for it to begin with. So sorry everyone didn't just puff up your ego and get all excited about your "first generation" sons. As Mike has said you have shown just how green you are. The shame is with your attitude you will be hard pressed to learn anything either.
