deworming, fawns

What do you use for coccidia, and barberpole worm in fawns. What is the dosage that is recommended for medication given? Does levamasole work for the barberpole parasite, and if it does what is the dose? Also do you use LA200 for an antibiotic, and the dose please. Can you use Nuflor on whitetails and if so what is the dose. Any other medication help will be greatly appreciated along with the dosage of each. Thanks

We use Valbazen to cover tape worms and barber pole worms it will also help on coccidia. We use instruction on dose but will double it. If fawns are on the bottle we just put it in the bottle. If treating coccidia do it two times. You should also worm 10 day later as no wormer will kill stage 1 &2 worms. LA 200 is not good for growing fawns as it interferes with the bone development.
Nuflor is given to fawns here at 1/4 to 1/2 cc SQ. Good for pneumonia.
If treating gut issues it would be better to use Baytril 100 as it works great on those problems. Also at 1/4 to 1/2 cc depending on fawn weight.

Jack thank you so much. Do you know the food withhold on these medications if treating adults?

Jack, are you using cattle dose, sheep, or goat, when you say to double it. I give a 15 lb lamb 2 ml of corid.

Joanie,
I use the cattle dose. On Valbazen there is much room on treatment I have overdosed and never had one get sick. The Corid that should be the same as Lambs dose. I actually use Sulfa Quinoxlin for my coccidia deer problems.
Either Ivermic of Valbazen can be put on the deer daily grain and they will still eat it. We mix it the night before so it dries into the grain. It really is the only way to treat deer for worms when you have them on fawns without causing problem to the does or bucks. When I do that I usually treat two days in a row. We just guess the weight of the group and use the corresponding dose. It would be best to not feed for 12 hours or longer as that allows the wormer to be taken up better without a lot of food in them.

Thanks again Jack. We fast our sheep before we de-worm as well.
