Andy I'm gonna have to agree with ya.....Did I just say that?.....I agree with all the additions gets it so confusing and I'm out. I know a couple animals I had been bidding on then the add-ons came in ...Im out .....at which point I couldn't follow along anymore. I think it is just a small handful of farms that do this...so its no reason to stay away from a sale. You just get to take a break from the sale if you don't like it. I have mixed feelings on the no-sale thing.....I think I like them at some sales and don't for others. If it ain't close the sellers price then I'm OK with it but if your talking a few bucks different then I thing they are a fool.

We have so many good deer in these sale and rarely do I have certain specific deer I am going to buy...Hell most time I don't even look at the catalog till I get to the sale.....have gotten some awesome deer at pretty good prices with my method. Just to let everyone that secret trademark practice nobody is allowed to do the same thing.

Virgil sounds like you have some good looking deer you should advertise them some. NOT Ripping at ya. Whos the deer in your avatar?

John take her easy on my buddy Rog.....

Rog how can you read the forum with your head in a crack......Im kinda wondering whos crack you have it in.

Virgil what was the percentage we agreed on for selling deer. By the way you just won the Alaska Cruse.

On a personal note: Thank you for the kind words. One day I hope to meet you, your in my circle of friends.

[quote name='virgil']Hey Roger Buy the way that private message you sent me i never even met Wisdom i just know from research into the industry and into other peoples blood lines he has some of the best proven no name pedigrees that are in the industry. His typical line blows away any of these fad typical lines that are in the industry. I also know i would not be getting ripped of cause my buddy bougrht from him and he got his deer at a very reasonable price. The Biggest names don't always mean the biggest bucks there are many low key guys out there that don't care for the spot light. I encourage new guys to chek them out when getting into the industry be suprised what you might find. I started in 2004 and have had two 200inch two year olds born bread and raised on my farm and never ai'd till last year

Yes you did say that. I am going to frame this post. Love you man, your specal

Roger spelled with out a D. I think you are a pretty good guy. By the several post I have read on the forums with out knowing you I have come to realize you truly have a passion for this industry and the people in it.

Hope to shake your hand at the NADEFA meeting.

Concerning post # 203 I hope you laughed as hard as we did.

Special means you have been and always will be my friend even when we don’t agree. Special means either one of us can call the other at 2:00AM for help and the other will be there. I think at heart you already know that.

Andy Im not sure what specal is ......hope thats not a bad thing.

Sorry Roger but you gotta laugh hopefully not as hard as i did thowe i almost threw up

Now THAT'S funny stuff right there! But when I saw the picture I also thought about the PETA prez.

I think Curtis's post (#211) was the funnest though.

Well, Laurie turned in early tonight and I have lots of reading to do.

Night all.

Oh wait, I swing both ways on the no sale stuff as well. I see both sides of it. It sucks to waste the time and the high bidder thinks he got it and then BA BAM its gone. But then as a seller some deer just seem like they really are worth more to you to just keep it on the farm.

Its a hard call for all parties.

Night all!

:)

The New Texas co-op does not have a No sale problem. The seller may bid and purchase his lot back at 4% if he feels it does not bring enough. The sale went twice as fast with out all the no sales that did not kill the spirit of the sale and bidders. As far as every one knew all the lots were sold even when they were not or bought back by the seller. Another thing I liked. The auctioneer read the description of lot sold and his attendants showed antlers or what ever while the summery of lot was read. The seller of the lot just sat in the audience. This also take a lot of pressure off of people who are not comfortable speaking in front of a lot of people. On another note: no seller was embarrassed if their lot was not bid on or did not bring enough money.

It was the best sale I ever attended. All lots were represented equally. The sale was all about selling lots and bidders bidding. The keg of beer in the back may have taken the edge off of things to.

Eric mabey you guy's could have a sale like that. That does sound fair for everyone and the auction would still make money.I don't know how you would figure out the 4% mabey from the last highest bidder including the owner's last bid.But then i guess they would have to be at the sale to bid it back in (good thing)and more people would come if the animals got sold with a no reserve sale.I know i'm new and i dont disrespect any that has got where they are but the way i see it the deer should sell itself not the farmer.I mean if a guy does his homework and runs his program like he should he is buyin the deer not the farmer and if the farmer is a great guy and mabey guarantees fawns thats just iceing on the cake.I dont think there needs to be a bunch of talk about the deer. The pedegree does that!!

wisdom I liked that 4% did the buyer that lost the buy back get maybe 2% and the actioner get 2% (just a idea) it was his lost too I don't think the seller would care where his 4% went too . he just feels that his item is worth more and it should be protected bu when you buy a couple of deer because you know its a good buy and you cant win beacause of no sale it stinks .if I got a couple of 2% off of nbuy backs that day i know I would bid higher on the next ones, And I like how texians take the edge off at these social events

thanks ed

I want to point out what Wisdom is saying here. Not everyone is understanding his comments correctly! He is saying that the co op doesn't have a no sale policy. He is saying they charge a 12% commission if the animal sales to the highest bidder, but if you buy your animal back you are only charged a 4% commission just like if it were a regular sale, except you bought it back.

Mid West Whitetail Deer Sales up until the Eastern Ohio Sale this coming week has always been a no reserve sale company. With the economic downturn in the last year we are starting to go towards a reserve type sale to let the sellers have some say in letting their animals go or keeping them.

Eric

the buy back option is good protection for the seller and the auction company, unless they also have a no sale fee.
