yes kid, you are right Conductor is very nice He looks ten times bigger in the pen when you are standing next to the fence. the picture looks good but does not do him justice.



Keep growing them big in Louisiana. I hope I can contribute in the near future.

Wow, as everyone has said over and over and I agree 100% this thread has been so fun to check out. So many huge bucks this year it is amazing.

This is one of our big boys at Walks' whitetails we call Triton. His pedigree is Blackout/Lonewood/Reno/BJ/Pa Geronimo. Blackout was 212" at 1 with a huge frame and died at 2. With only 1 year of breeding Blackout he has proven to be one of our best producers ever when his 2yr olds averaged 240+ last year. Bringing the 2 best Loner sons we have ever had togher worked for this guy. Triton grows really late and has grown a good bit since I took these photos a week ago. Last year as a 2yr old he scored 326" and as you can see he is way bigger this year. The first 2 pics are Triton this year and the last pic is him as a 2yr old.

Hey if you know anyone needed photos taken I have started a business taking photos and price is negotable, straws are even acceptable if we both agree. Have great camera, will travel.
 
The quality of animals on this thread is incredible. I think HBA is about finished growing. I witnessed something unbelievable yesterday. HBA was standing upright and resting his left side antler on the ground for a full three minutes. That heavy antler can't be comfortable! The first cool day they are coming off!

Harry How many points is Bg Rig? HAHA That is the most bone I think Ive ever seen on a 2 yr old! Lots of great deer out there guys. Good job guys

HARRY, Big Rig is awesome!!! That is some kind of 2yr old. You seem to be doing it year after year. Bravo to all! Lots of great deer.
 
We had a yearling Grover son break his skull plate yesterday. First case we've ever had so I wasn't sure how to handle it. Ended up cutting the antler close to the base, giving meds and reversing. Just keeping our fingers crossed now.

I hope you made a "brace" (for a lack of a better term) to hold the broken side in its relatively normal position.

We had this happen one year to a yearling and using the brace caused the skull to heal in almost the perfect position. The following year at 2 he grew a perfect 5x5 typical frame of just under 190"@2. Unfortunately that fall/winter he was killed due to fighting:( A bigger 2 year old killed him.:mad:



The brace was made out of a flat 1/2" thick piece of wood and held in place by a "V" cut on both ends along with duck tape. The duck tape falls off due to the weather after about 4 to 5 days and that is enough time for the skull to begin to heal.

I sawed off the antlers on both sides just above the brows. The "V" slide around the antlers just below the brows.

Hope my quick description made sense to everyone.

All that said this was in fall after velvet shedding and I sawed the antler because I felt otherwise he would be more likely to rub them if they were left on and screw up the brace.

In velvet I would have MAYBE left the velvet antler on. Again that is a MAYBE.

Just my thoughts for what they are worth.
 
We didn't put any brace on, might have been a good idea. We cut the antler as close to the burr as we could. The broken skull plate seems to stay in place pretty good, but with the swelling it is being pushed out some. It was so hot yesterday we wanted to get the operation over as fast as possible and get him awake. It will be a learning experience if nothing else.
