If you want all your sheds to fall on the same day, do like I did and let a couple dogs have a day inside your buck pen. Guaranteed that you'll be picking up sheds the next day :( I lost a deer have another that isn't looking well...what really hurts is that these were my own dogs. Let's just say I don't own them anymore. Just goes to show you that stress can play a major role in when the sheds are dropped.

Phillip,

That is horrible news. What happened? Did they actually get in the pen or just run them from outside?

Chad, they did get out of an empty pen I had them in on the north end of the property, and I had 6 or so empties between them and the deer. When the snow melted off and the ground thawed, they were able to slime under the gates. When I found them they were in the pen with the one dead one. Another had somehow gotten in to the adjacent pen-had to go over the fence. I'd tell you what the one dead one was like, but I'm afraid my post would be used against me from the antis! It was pretty ugly, though.

I have heard that the mild winter keeps testosterone levels up in bucks longer and therefor they hold their antlers longer... Not sure if that's fact but it sounds logical to me. My bucks are still fighting in the pens. Lots more broken this year than in previous years too.

Ben, Thats not the case here. Mild temps all year, only one measurable snow and bucks droping horns and cut offs like mad. My thoughts would be colder temps would be the trigger since thats what starts the process and lenght of daylight anyway.

My deer are almost done shedding already. This is the earliest ever for my deer. I to thought the mild winter would make them stay on longer. Guess I was wrong.

pic of my breeders sheds, rough score went 209" as a two year old, but he busted a few points that i didn't get to score. Now that there off, I am pumped to see him go for the 300" mark, I know he has the potential to hit it this year, even if he goes 240+ next year i will be really happy and satisfied. His mainbeams really impressed me. 28.5 and 27", He shed these this past Sunday.

Aslan, shed his antlers today February 25th between 3:00pm and 6:00pm. I found both only 3 feet apart.

Picture of these sheds are of my 2 yr old breeder we call Honesty Supreme. He's a 7x7 main frame with matching drops off his G2's. A drop off his main beam, 27 & 1/2" main beams, grossed 210 when we moved him to the breeding pen in the middle of Oct. Dropped his horns 3 weeks ago. This deer is 100% Ratchet/Goodman foundation, old school bloodline and still producing very well for us.

Thanks for looking.

This is a picture of our main breeder, Justice. He dropped his antlers today. 42 scoreable points, main beams of 29 & 6/8 and 29 inches. 25" inside spread, grossed 283 SCI. This buck is 100% Ratchet/Goodman foundation, old school bloodline and still producing. Typical and non-typical. Semen available if interested.

Thanks for looking.

Why would my phone be ringing off the hook? I didn't euthanize the dogs, I gave them away.

Mick love Honesty Supreme! He should be a beast this year. I like the extra points too esspecially since they match side to side.

To Jared and anyone else that knows or seen micks deer and likes his line allready knows it produces not every deer is a hit and not every deer hits 400 or more but consistency is where it's at and his deer are consistent I'm looking forward to my lined bred justice girls to drop there fawns hoping for both bucks and does his line produced for many in the industry just look at Texas Tea thy deer alone shows what the goodman herd can do wether it's used in the south or north

Here are the sheds of a 3 year old Big Guy / Little O-23 Apple Creek Purchased from Barkley Young. I was so impressed with how Barkley serves his customers I named the Buck Barkleys Man. If you ever consider doing business with Barkley you will not you will not be disappointed.

Virgil I think when he was delivered last fall Barkley had him at around 240 and 24 inside. Chad is a master SCI scorer i will ask him to review this week. His look is high on the list for our hunters.
