For 2012 Independence Ranch has only one 2 year old buck on the farm. His name is Shadowman.

Shadowman's sire is Shadow. We all have seen the production coming out of Shadow and there is no doubt he is getting it done.

The dam side of Shadowman is also very proven. His mother Grace is a Maxbo daughter out of Y0289. Y0289 is the grandma to Updraft, Downdraft, and Sudden Explosion.

Shadowman's mainframe won't officially be known until later this fall, but he looks to have an 8x8 typical mainframe. He has many points coming up off the main beams, but the ones that look to be in line and can legitimately be counted as typical mainframe points look to make up an 8x8 mainframe.

I hesitate to post a guess on the score, but visitors are saying over 250"

A semen draw will be planned for this fall in time for the 2012 breeding season. That will happen whether he is sold to someone or if he is kept for my own breeding use.

Thanks for looking.

He looks great roger. Hard to tell in the pic how his tines are lined up but it really does not matter. He should be a 300in 3yr old!!!

Thanks very much everyone! And thanks for all the emails about him as well.

I have to say it is nice to still be in the business and have so many good friends in the industry.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this winter!

Saw shadowman in person a week ago. Let me just say the pictures don't tell the story! This buck is very impressive, and at just 2 yrs old. Great pedigree to boot also. Great buck Roger!

Come on Roger, You know that buck is easy 250. So What's the est. Score? lol Good looking buck.

Thanks Adam it was great visiting with you and Trista.

Josh you know I am no good at scoring deer on the hoof. I know he is big, but that is about it for me. Maybe you should stop on over when I am home next time. Come to WI the last week of Aug.

Thanks everyone very much!

I know some folks wonder at times just what ever comes from the animals sold and bought at the Top 30 sale and other auctions. I just thought I would mention the mother to Shadowman was sold by me at the Top 30 sale a couple of years ago. I informed the buyer this summer of just what he has, and he was happy to hear the news. Out of privacy to the buyer I will not post his name and let him decide what he might like to do about sharing that info.

Also I will mention Shadowman's womb sister Scarlet is still owned by me. Last fall she was live bred to Lucky Ranger. Her 2012 buck fawn is now owned by a partnership from Ohio. Congrats to them!

Nope i never wonder at all about any of the animals bought at the top thirty...unless I bought IT.....and I have purchased some....AND I LOVE THEM....BUT.....i'm not going to go any further than that....i am going to be happy with my purchases and what i reproduced from it ....BUT should someone else benefit from my purchases or sales........i would NOT pressure them to advertise for my benefit......if they so choose ...then thats a plus!!!.....Just my opinion.........if they purchased a animal from me it is theirs to do with what they want......

I could have expected some negative slant from you or a couple of others Dennis. I have no idea where you get the feeling you need to insinuate I am pressuring anyone to advertise anything. In fact I purposely didn't use any names just in case they choose to remain quiet. I was mearly pointing out that there are quality animals sold at sales. Because there has been discussions by some in the past asking what has come from some of the animals offered at various sales.

WOW, Nice deer Roger, your doing something right over there. Congratulations and good luck keeping up with the semen orders!!!

Today I had the opportunity to put my hands on Shadowman while vaccinating him. In what was an extremely quick and very rough scoring period we came up with a gross score of 273 5/8" @ age 2 and this is in hard antler. I really want to stress this was a fast and furious measuring of all those points and we could be both high or low on that total. He did have a total of 40 scoreable points according to the numbers wrote down. I feel fortunate to have raised yet another buck of this caliber.

Thanks for looking.

Congrats Rodger. he is a fantastic buck, Good luck with him, i hope he stays healthy and produces well for you for years to come.
