Blo-Gun

With the doe fawns coming into heat shortly I decided to make a blo-gun instead of using a rifle to inject birth control. I use a 40 inch piece of plastic water line. Get schedule 80 with one coupling pressed on one end. Then get a 1/2 inch schedule 40

coupling to put inside the  larger coupling. Before installing the small coupling I cut a piece of copper wire to fit inside the coupling so the dart has a stopper. I have tried the P and the C darts and they both work fine up to 40 feet.

The schedule 80  is smaller then 1/2 inch copper and I found it works better. The wire in the 1/2 inch coupling also serves as a safety device  so you don't inhale a loaded dart.. This all cost less then ten dollars. Want to haul a large buck by yourself , check out the deer hauler in the Deer Whisperer book.

Having trouble opening the 2nd picture. Is it showing the copper wire in the fitting and if so can you describe what size wire and how it is placed in the fitting. Thanks

All the pictures were the same size so I don't know why the others won't open. The wire was a piece of 12-2 electrical wire and any will work as long as it fits tight across the inside the coupling. Make sure it is on the inside of the coupling towards the dart before pressing into the schedule 80 coupling.

I slide the dart slowly down the pipe until it hits the wire.To fast and it could set the dart off. The smaller coupling was just for a more comfortable mouth piece.

What do you use for .......Birth Control ?           I just seperate  my fawns from the breeding pens................ Did not know folks used Birth Control on Fawns ?

I use Pneu darts right from Pneu. Wayne, to answer your question I,m starting over after 24 years so we only have one pen with the second one ready for wire. We have used Eustrumate  and Lutalyse for the past 15 years or more. I started  out putting all doe fawns in a seperate pen separated by heavy chain link  but the buck ripped a hole thru it to get after a  doe fawn in heat  After that we found it was easier to give them birth control.and not have any more problems. I gave 1/4 cc. on the first of Dec,Jan. and Feb. . Never had a baby have a baby in all the years we have used this birth control. In my book Deer Whisperer  We tell about the oldest deer in the world and my attempt to use birth control to  stop her from having a fawn at age 22. Either the buck out smarted me or I didn't give her enough as she had a single that spring.
