I agree. Yukon's brows are hard to beat!

This fall my AI sire line-up will include Yukon, Dude, Thunderstorm, and Arty. I have seen offspring from Yukon and his hard horns are as impressive as the pictures. No photo shopping or retouching with Yukon. He is the real deal.

I've noticed many Texas Tea sons have nice single brows like their Daddy!

Double Wide has very nice long single brows! Maybe Jim Moses can tell us if Double Wide sons carry that trait on ? :)

Double Wide bred on Ivan Zimmerman's farm in PA for 3 years before going to Jim's place. He should have some mature sons as well. I know Ivan had a big Sheriff yearling there out of an Allstar doe in the pen with the Double Wide yearlings. I also know which one was biggest with single brows.

I don't think Ivan has any, If I recall correctly,  I think Ivan said the oldest Double Wide bucks are on Jim's Farm, and I think they will be 2 yr olds this year.   I Think Ivan told me they didn't do much (if any) breeding with Double Wide before he Left Ivans.

Maybe someone can verify?

Might Big Tea be the monster you are referencing?

My Toot My Horn,Rural King, and King Size bucks are all anchored by white #123 whose dam is the #96 a Nick doe in the same spot as Big Tea. Nick was a Goliath son I believe and breeder at Blosser's.

Could some one explain how Nathan got the Goliath line. Was he a son of Thor, Sore, or BC. I have loved his Goliath line for a while. Did he get it straight from Todd Carrol or elsewhere? The largest typical framed Buckwheat son Todd ever had was Buckwheat Jr. He was a son of Buckwheat and the doe named Carroll. Eddie Ray bought him from Todd and almost immediately sold him to Texas before the boarders closed. Buckwheat Jr. only ever bred two doe in the north before leaving. He was also known as "the buck that was skinned twice." He somehow got his side tore and his intestines were hanging out. He stayed that way for several days before they were pushed back in and he was stitched up. He survived! Lol

I believe Nathan got Goliath from Doug Roberts in Michigan,   And yes I think it is out of son of son of  BuckWheat that Doug had. Many many years ago.   Which later breeding produced the Son of Gun lines for Doug.   A little more to the story.

Bell, you are right. I am also a big believer in Big Tea.  I have a couple straws going back in typical lines.  Talked with Nathan today and says he is looking real good.

Thanks for the info. That makes perfect sense. Dennis Salsgiver and Doug Roberts in Michigan both got some of Todd's herd. Wilber Lehman from northern Indiana near the area where Buckwheat was found and raised by Todd also built his foundation around the Buckwheat line. Randy Bark's is preparing an article for his next issue of Deer Tracking about the Lester line. I think it will show his sire Chester was a son of a Buckwheat son owned by Dennis Salsgiver. Lester has also been an incredible typical frame and tine length producer.

Elroy has always had big single or mostly clean brows and passes them on. If you are looking at an TX genetics? He is relatively inexpensive to breed also!

Here he is last year

And here is a 3yr old son this year

Check out the shape of the frame of the buck in post #17. That is what I am after! Yukon's frame is both tall and wide. He fits well into my breeding program and will hopefully be helpful for building the doe line I am after. His frame is very simular in size and shape to the Dude buck which I will also be breeding. There is a big difference in breeding to a buck with 14-15" tines verses moving forward with a sire with16-19" typical tines in my opinion. I also like the ergonomics and tine spacing of Yukon's antlers.

He has Awesome brows for sure! I love his tine length also but, I have to have 6x6 or better frames and more width.

Keep in mind the bucks above are 100% TX genetics, crossing them with northern genetics is when I think it could be incredible!

I will take Yukon's frame any day over most 7 by 7. Carry his hard horns around a sale and hold them up to compare to other bucks. This is a very telling way to measure the quality and actual size of an animal. Very few bring their hard antlers to shows. Most of the sires behind Yukon are consistent producers of 6 by 6 or better mainframes including Sunny,Goliath(buckwheat line),and Walks Magnum. BJ is the only sire that produces a lot of 4 by's offspring in his pedigree in my opinion.

Dr James Kroll stated that the square frame is the premium frame for a whitetail. There are a lot of wide rectangular shaped bucks in our industry that would be a lot more impressive if they filled in the top of the square frame with more tine length in my opinion. Right now, in my breeding program, I am looking to go vertical without making a mess. I am satisfied with 24-26" spreads if I can get 20" tines and 36" beams! Would like to have single G-1's like Yukon's too!

Here is a Sunny Jr son we are using on our farm. We love his brows and tine length. I wish we had a pen full of him. Super clean with one flyer for a little flair. He is currently a 5x6, hoping he gets to a 6x6.

Those are great single g-1s. I bought 9 straws of a Sunny son named Sunlight years ago from Nathan. He was Sunny-BJ/Holly. He died as a yearling and so I was hesitant to breed with him. I think that I may use that semen to outcross this fall on some Thunderstorm, Allstar, and Thunderstrike daughters. I am going to try to breed Allstar's sis to Yukon.

Bell, I don't think you can go wrong with that cross. I was at Nathan's last year and it seemed like every buck I liked was a Yukon son. Zane, Undertaker is 3 this year. As a yearling we watched him gore another buck and flip him over his head, hence the name. I love the look of non typicals, as you can look at them and notice something different everyday, but it is hard to beat a big clean typical.

3 yr old named " STOUT " .... with Single brows .. At 2 he had 11" single brows and score 203" .. This year he kicked it in gear ...Picture taken 7-7-14 .
