Its below the jaw line so we are think a swollen gland. Temp is 101.5 and she is eating good and does not  act sick. Eats well and runs with the other fawns. Nine days ago started LA200 every 3 days but it did not bring down the swelling. I worry about her swollen and closing the throut but she eats pellets  real good. Can't get a vet until Monday. It is very firm so it doesn't appear to be pus inside.

Read the forum on lumpy jaw and with blood vessels close by I don't want to lance it myself. The forum says this lumpy jaw happens in one of ever  ten fawns. We have had over 400 hundred and this is a first for us. Any suggestions would help.

it could be an abscess. you might want to try 1/2 cc of excede (IM), that is what i have been doing for my fawns and it has brought the swelling down pretty fast.

If the fawn is bottle fed catch her and use a 16 or 18 gage needle with a 60cc syringe to draw the liquid out. If it is clear or just slightly yellow it is likely a pocket caused by a little trauma similar to the fluid in a blood blister. A lumpy jaw abscess would send puss into the syringe. Poke the needle into the abscess from the lowest point closest to the ground angled upward into the pocket. This will allow it to continue to drain after you have drawn out the fluid. In my opinion that will heal on its own without further intervention. Watch carefully for any swelling in the tissue on and around the jaw bone. I have a buck fawn who hit the fence with a little pocket in the same spot as your little doe. Mine was filled with the clear liquid.

Good luck

Took a sample tonite and it is whitish pus.Next step is have the vet drain and clean it and give her a antibotic. Thank you for your help.

if it is real thick it is fuso.  I have had luck with lancing , flushing with iodine solution and packing it with furacin ointment.  Had one I did not to long ago and she healed up well. had a buck fawn couple years ago that had one around his foot and just above the dewclaw.  Did the same with him and he is 2 this year.  I figured he would have been a goner when we found it.

Lanced her today and it was thick pale yellow .Vet figured it was from a puncture in the back inside lower jaw that caused this.
