I just wanted to share a couple of big blessings from the last couple weeks . . .
First, on September 26th, I was blessed as a part of our ministry, A Higher Pursuit outdoors (www.ahighgerpursuit.com), to take a man suffering from double lung and bladder cancer, on his Final Pursuit at Quest Haven Lodge in Tyrone, PA.
Here is a link to the YouTube video of the hunt.

Thanks to Russ and Lori Walk for the great opportunity!
As if that wasn't a big enough blessing . . . My daughter Grace shot her first deer this past Friday. This mature doe walked right through the foodplot that we had planted in August, and Grace shot her at 31 yards. Oh, by the way, Grace is 7 years old (well, she just turned 8, but last Friday she was 7 ). She made a perfect shot . . . dead center through the lungs. Grace has been coming hunting with me since she was 2 years old. She's had her license in PA for the last two years with our new Mentored Youth Hunting program. I've often wondered how she would do when the moment arrived. I praise God that she did awesome! She was calm, cool, and collected until after the shot when I was crying and squeezing her so tight she could hardly breathe! Our son, Artyr, who my wife and I adopted from Ukraine this past winter, was with Grace and I in our two-person ladder stand. This was the first time that he ever came hunting. What a great first experience!
The first two pictures are of Grace and her deer. The third is of our son, Artyr; Grace; and our other daughter, Jordyn (who came and helped us recover the doe). The last picture is of Grace and Jordyn (to the right of the picture) sharing the fun with friends.
The two stories are intimately connected, because the Ten Point crossbow that Grace shot this doe with was given to us by the family of Gary Divelbiss, who I took hunting at Quest Haven two years ago a week before he died of esophageal cancer (you can see a video of Gary's Final Pursuit on our website).
If you'd like to get involved in our ministry of taking adults with terminal illnesses on their Final Pursuit, please let us know. You can also find out more about the Outdoorsman's Camps that we participate in with Truth Quest ministries at Quest Haven Lodge each summer.
Thanks for allowing me to share these great events with you . . . God Bless!
