Advice on Hoof issue

One of my deer cut her hoof a couple weeks ago. Just took about a 3" patch of hide off, not a deep cut at all. It seemed to being okay for a while, but in the last couple days it seems to have swollen quite a bit, and she doesnt want to walk on it much at all. She mostly lays down. She will eat and drink when I put feed and water next to her. She hasnt been losing weight. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Should I just give a healthy dose of penicillin? and she how she reacts? Will it eventually heal on its own? Any help is appreciated. Its dark now I wasnt able to get pictures today to help. Sorry. I can get pictures tomorrow.

Thanks

I don't know to much as we are still learning as we go along, but I would try to give her some banamine which will help with swelling & pain & possibly give her some draxxin for antiobiotic.

Did she cut the pad or was it above the hoof??? If it is not the pad and If you can get your hands on her I would suggest trying to clean the cut and spray it liberally with blu-kote, dry the wound before spraying. I would also give some anti-biotics and banamine to help with the swelling and possible infection. If her pad is cut you may want to soak it in a hoof treatment for a few minutes then dry and spray with blu-kote, i also give a little probiotic paste everytime i sedate one of our animals. We have had a few minor hoof problems in the past, all a little different each time. IF you have any questions or if I can help in anyway feel free to call!!
