To look at semen with a microscope do I use just a slide or should I cover it with a sheath?

Make sure when you are covering it with a slide cover to drag the slide cover across the slide till it touches the semen, this will prevent getting air bubbles under the slide cover. Air bubbles make it very difficult to get a good look at the semen.

I would like to know what everyones opinion is on the exact hours from PMSG to AI is best. Post some conception %s if you can as well, thanks Jason.

Also should have mentioned you need to have the slide WARM around body temp. I use an incubator to keep my slides warm or you can use a heating pad and fold your heating pad over the top of the slides to keep them warm. If motility is slow set your slide back on the heating pad for 30 sec or so and look at it again. If it doesn't look good always do a couple slides to be sure before you say it is no good.

Mike, I read that a red mark could be put on the sheath at 1-1/2"
to help you determine that you are depositing them semen in the wright spot, do you do that or do you just feel for the three ridges you pass through with the gun?

Cassie, you should be able to feel the gun pass through the cervix. Putting a mark on the sheath is not a bad idea either though. Maybe do both and see what you feel most comfortable with.
