When do you plan to boost your doe with the Pnue -vac?

I ask about this subject on another forum because I didn't know the answer. I ask you because I noticed from your post you might be close to making a mistake that could hurt your AI. You don't want to boost them when you are pulling Cidrs. I wish that this type of helpful information was in the marketing literature for the vaccine. The only thing I suspected is that the deer would run a temperature after being vaccinated for a couple days. That would kill the sperm. I was strongly advised not to do vaccinate when pulling cidrs. Since I was already handling the doe three times I really wanted to take advantage of the opportunity. I will be giving mine rounds one & two in March. I would recommend you give them two more rounds in March and not boost now. Then next fall on cidr in day. You might want to give Josh a call and discuss what is best with him. Good luck on your AI.

I emailed Randy Barks a couple months ago and suggested that an article discussing vaccine immune response, best times to vaccinate, etc would be a nice informative article for his Deer Tracking magazine. I would enjoy reading it.

I wouldn't be boosting when i pull cidrs....boosting would have been this sat...then next sat would be ai. but as discussed in private..i had an OOPS moment soooooo lol

Vaccinating in the fall can be a little tricky. In most cases when starting a new vaccination program (first two shots in the fall) I count back a minimum of 14 days prior to CIDR insertion, 21-30 days would be best then give my first shot. Then the booster can be administered during CIDR insertion. I personally like this as the immune system kicks into high gear and should be coming into a plateau period on AI and for a few weeks after.

I agree with Josh, you don't want to be administering any vaccines 30 days prior to or after AI as they can have effects on a deer just as they would a person. You can see a slight increase in Body temperature among many other things, this is something you want to avoid when breeding season is upon your deer. Vitamins such as Vit. E and Vit. B will be beneficial for your AI, especially Vit. E as it has been proven in the goat industry to slightly increase egg production in does. I always tell people that I am going to AI for, stick with what has worked best for you in the past. If you haven't had good success, make small changes here and there to try and improve.
