Our local feed store carries "Buckmaster" or "Antler King" pelleted deer/elk pellets. Also, Purina Deer Mineral.

Have any of you used these products? How would you compare them?

We used Antler King when we were managing a wild herd in Alabama. Had great results, we had buck fawns with spots and small 4 and 6 pt racks.

Nutritionally I think it worked well, good amount of fat on all of our does and they were all producing well.

But we were using it on a wild herd and with some mineral supplements, mainly trophy rock and Vita-Rack 26

The drawback for us now is availablilty. When we were using it it was 8.50 per bag, now it it upwards of 13 everywhere I have checked, also it is hard to find a supplier, ours is the local co-op but they only order it when someone requests it.

We use Purina Antlermax. That is what we grew our buck Ballistic on and he scored 561 at 3. We buy it in bulk, by the ton. It is expensive but we feel worth it.

Wow, fawns with 4 and 6 point racks that still have their spots. Sure like to have those genetics in my herd.

Let me make sure I understand this right, you are saying you had spotted fawns with four and six point racks?

Yes we did. In a wild herd. They were twins, I have a pic somewhere from a trail cam I will try to find it so you can see.

I figured th0se fawns got out of your pen! If not I will take credit for them. Hopefully they got out of my pen and their mother is still here

Is anyone paying less than $500 a ton for any feed?

My feed is right at 450 a ton right now, I use a whole grain mix corn, oat's, roasted soybean's, sunflower, mineral and molasses to make the mineral stick to the grain. 16% and use about the same mix for buck's start them on it in the spring 18% feed for 480 a ton.

Five years ago I was paying $235 a ton for the same feed I''m paying $600 a ton for know. Feed has put a hurtin on the deerfarmers pocket book!

I was a Record Rack Dealer when i first got into raising deer. We started our program out on there pellets and had good results. We pressured them for years to come up with a textured feed for deer farmers. There dry feed was great to ad to your own textured feed but there all pellet based formula just was not compatible for all deer.

Well They Finally did it! This summer we where lucky enough to have been asked to participate in testing this new product. The deer loved it! I loved it because i didnt have to mix all this other stuff in there to get my desired %. Then after months of waiting for it to hit the market. IT IS HERE!!! We just got everyone switched over to it. If you are a fan of the Golden Deer Nuggets they are already in this new feed.

Im paying $590 per ton here locally for it witch is about $14.75 per bag. When i was mixing my own it was $16.50 per bag. So all i do know is mist my feed add my Shock Effects and Feed them hungry deer.

Im no Longer a dealer for Record Rack But they are worth looking into.

fallow - I can tell you that I fed Antler King one time and was not happy at all with the results. I fed it to one of my bucks that was by himself just to put Antler King to the test. He was a 150+ buck @ 3 yrs old. I fed him the Antler King during the following season and not only did he not gain signicantly, he actually lost an inch, went down to 149+, and did this on a year he should have had some gain to his rack.

There was nothing other obvious to me to make me think it was anything other than the feed to cause this loss of an inch in a year he should have gained.

I know this may not be enough to flatout rule Antler King out cause it's just one test, but I'll never use it again.

I like max-rax pretty well.

We feed a pellet feed from a local buisness, that we buy by bulk and it is costing us around $330 a ton which is up $50 a ton from last year, we have had really good luck and the deer look great.

Scott, as you know there's a HUGE difference between x factor and wild alabama genetics! Can't wait to see the photos.

I use Purina Antler Max Breeder elite 300. I am fairly new in the buisness started in Febuary. I had my first group of fawns in May. I know my deer love it and I can not see a rib or back bone on any of my does or button bucks and I think the size of my deer are pretty good. I traveled a lot between June and October and I think my deer look pretty good compared to what I have seen at many other farms.

Some one has to post some photos I can't wait to see them. I'm sure i'm not the only one who wants to see these fawns with antlers.
