I’m fighting a bad barber pole parasite problem in my high fence. I’ve had several blackbuck and scimitar horned oryx die and a necropsy revealed a large barberpole load. Anyone fought this in these species? If so with what drug?

I’ve asked around and some say use cattle cydectin pour-on orally over feed. Feeding is really my only option with these species...

Waiting on fecals from other species to come back (red stag, Pere David, and fallow deer).

This article's matter was spot on, I would give a similar review as well on such an issue. It was quite useful as turkish barbers was for those who are looking for best haircuts. I mostly try not to overlook such matters at hand.

I know this has been posted a long time ago but I wanted to respond Incase anyone else searched it. I had a fawn that got Haemonchus ( barber pole worms ). My vet gave me oral Cydectin. It cleared her right up. They told me the eggs are expelled in the poop then the larva move to the top of blades of grass then of course the cattle ingest the parasite. High temp is what they like. I would say if you have an outbreak of it then you need to treat it at the source. Spray the grass with liquid nitrogen early in the morning when it’s dewy.
