Lets vote on what we like in our Antlers...this should be interesting....vote if you like a big typical framey buck or a big non typical with lots of points or both but prefer one or the other.

I gave my vote, but this is a hard one. Everyone has their own definition of what a typical is. To me a typical is just that. NO odd, extra, strange location points. All tines go up and from the top/center of the main beam. No stickers, kickers, flyers, or anything else you might call it.

So therefore I don't want a typical buck, (at least by my own definition). I want a big typical frame with extras.

You read my mind.

What I like..... I like the beams to be level looking when the buck looks at you. I don't care for the racks that the beams angle upwards . I like a rack with tine length and stickers so that every different angle you look at it , it reveals a different look and extra things. I don't care for beams with a row of points under it below the ones on top. I don't care for the " all crab claw " shaped tine to rack angle. And I like all of the points to be pointed and not ending in blunt , odd edges. As I have awed at the huge racks with multi points and tines , I have found it more pleasing to see a more "white tail" configured shape. Some of the largest racks don't look in proportion with the animal also so we need to develop some extra large deer to go with them. Everyone has their fantasy buck in their mind and few probably ever get to own it. If every buck became a huge clump of points and inches with not much of a shape , I think we would be going away from that wonderful , dignified , "white tail " look you get to glimpse in the wild on some lucky moment. I enjoy looking at all the bucks and I appreciate them for whatever antlers they grow. But when I picture my dream buck walking under my bowstand it's always a big typical framed, heavy antlered buck with long tines, long beams and a kicker or two. I'm still waiting on him to pass by my stand. Maybe this will be the year.
