Tomorrow (saturday the 5th) the wildlife biologist is coming to inspect my pen so I can get my permit then hopefully some deer. Any last minute advice?

Have water troughs working , feeders and build some shades or if you have trees its ok . Thats in Texas....I guess its all the same . Goodluck !!!

Make sure you close the gates to the pens good , Game warden might pay you a visit ....before getting you approve . They like everything in order.

nope, there was a small problem with the gate (a space bigger than 2 inches is too much apparently), the shelter had 3 sides on it (1 too many) and there was a spot where the fence "might have let a predator under". The good thing is he didnt charge for the inspection except for gas. Once I pass, it will be $200.00. He is close, so when I get them things fixed, he will come out. He needs little or no warning. Was I wrong in thinking that 2 large/wide trees could be considered as shelter. I had a 3 sided wooden one in there, but I had to remove a side.

I guess it all depends on how many deer you want to keep in the pen that is being inspected . I think with a couple of big trees and shade ports or wooden roofs ... Your ok , About the 2inch gap .... Thats funny to hear ... Never heard of that . How many deer are you trying to keep ?

44 If you want to not have to worry about preditors and to show the inspecter how much you want his ok on your pen.Take 2 or 3 feet of page wire fence and take some hog rings and put the page wire along the bottom of your deer fence. What we did after we attached the wire to the bottom of our fence and laid the 24 inches of fence on the ground was to cover it up with dirt and let the grass grow up through the fence. If something comes walking along your fence they are walking on the preditor wire and when they start digging to get in they dig down a couple inches and run into the fence underground. It really gives you a piece of mind with it there.I have had coyote try to get in a couple times and it dont take them long to give up.

I Passed....:) I am soooo excited.

I put wire fencing (about 2 feet) along the bottom of the fence and ran a hot wire around the bottom. Double protection for double peace of mind.

Well, guys it looks like we got another "Deer Junkie" on our hands!

44 No looking back now! Once you get a taste, there is no going back!

It only gets worst!
