:( Well, went outside about 20 min ago to poop-scoop and noticed blood on the ground. Stomach in knots....... Went searching - lifted Nina's tail - no blood present, lifted Faline's tail....found blood....... I know it's getting close to "that time.......heat" but don't ever remember blood in urine. Is this normal and just my first time noticing this, or should I be worried and start her on meds??? She is eating and acting fine otherwise.

Thank you,

Gail

are u sure its IN the urine? and not that shes gone into heat? i know that feeling with the pit in your stomach when u go..........uh oh

I believe it's in the urine. It was on the ground and their was a little by her vagina and when I opened her up a little (sorry it that's offensive....) it was inside. She may have gone into heat - that's what I thought at first, but then I could not remember this happening before. But then again, she does her business outside so how would I know. She just happened to pee next to dog poop that I scooped - that is how I found it. It's not bright red but really dark red. Then again, blood is not going do be bright red when mixed with urine.......at least I don't think it would be.

Could she be eating something that would cause her to pee red? I only ask that because last year I saw one of my does peeing red and I immediately called my vet (oh, what he puts up with) Anyway he asked the same question. Right about that time I was standing there watching her eating a big mouth full of Poke Berries, they are purple. I said "never mind". Problem solved.

Well, I have LOTS of pokeberries in my yard and I see them eating them sometimes. I guess it could very well be the pokeberries. I will keep an eye on her just in case :) Thank you all for your input!

Oh, and let me say, if I had a vet close by that handled deer - they would be on my speed dial! I would probably be worse than a new mother with an infant.......no, I KNOW I would be!

i do have a deer vet, but as he sys, "there is no book out there on deer like u find for dogs and cats" gotta wing it and see what happens hope the berries are the culprit !

you sound like me........lol
