bottle breaking

Brian is right at 12-15 weeks they should be pretty much ready to wean....so you should start pretty much after about a couple weeks old....meaning keep water and feed in front of them at all times and let them out to browse on greens.....then you go fron three feedings a day to two and then to one....and as you do this they should start eating more and more feed so by the time you are at one feeding they are pretty much ready to be weaned!!!

Ask 20 different deer farmers, get 20 different answers. Everyone does things a little different.

I am comfortable with weaning at 60 days. Some I have weaned a little earlier I go more on their body condition and how much they are eating grain and browse.

Do what you are comfortable with! No one knows your deer better than you.

Yep Gaylen is right you are with your little guys daily and you can tell when they are pretty much no longer depending on the milk......but you have to lay back on the amounts that you give so they are hungry and look for other alternatives to fill their bellies and you want to do this gradually over a period of time......Good LUck!!

try giving them one bottle of milk then a bottle of water at the next feeding, keeps them hydrated but removes their dependancy on the bottle for nourishment
