We use that green shade cloth. It seems to hold up fine and the deer just slide right off it.

Jens, the best thing I have seen is a lot of farmers just put the game fence on both sides at the corners where the support wires are this way the deer cant get caught in the wire. with all due respect I would not use the shade cloth because I have heard of people telling stories of their bucks getting their antlers wrapped up in the cloth and killing themsleves trying to get out. We use the black corigated plastic that tubing . Just cut it on one side and slide it on the wire then wrap a couple zip ties around it.
