My 3 year old buck chased my 1.5 year old doe 1/2 day and i saw him breed her once after that he did not seem to interested shouldn't he have tried more than once? Did she take after once?

Not trying to be a smart-a*s but look at it this way: your buck just put between 30 and 100+ the amount of semen into a doe that guys are using to get does pregnant via the AI method. Nobody puts an AI doe through the chute more than once for a "service". I'd bet a lot that she got bred with one go'round.

I do know of one guy who did! first 3 doe thru the chute full straw then a/i d all the rest then ran first 3 thru and put a full straw in them again just to be sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not saying it helped the results just saying what someone did.

Ok thanks...i really thought i would see him chase more this all happened on dec 3 and since then everynow and again he will try and run her down but is not real persistant. Just wasn't real sure. Just going off of what i see in the woods never had seen it in a pen before. Thanks guys

We have never live covered our animals we always AI with no cover buck but have heard that some peoples buck's just don't pay much attention to the doe at all until they know they are ready. Then on the other hand you here the stories of other bucks just running non stop.

Forgive me for always referring to swine, but I do know that young boars ride everything that moves (including one another) and even some things that don't move, while more experienced boars are lazy until they find a "companion" who is "ready". This might be why some say their bucks run all the does, ALL the time, while others only do their business when the does clock in.
