I find the power poles rot at the bases here in the south. They last for several years, but eventually need replacemenmt. Over the years I have learned that it only costs 10% more to go first class. I always design fences now with a 25 year life expectancy. It sure is nice to not have to perform maintenance every other week on your fences.
 
Try you local Power company and local Phone company. Here in Alabama they always have a short supply right after winter weather. Sometimes you can find them for 10 dollars a pole or usually 1 dollar a foot.
 
The local auction yard has some here. 205-758-3068. I think their 25 a pole. Not sure
 
You can get pipe for just a little more and they look so much better. I would look at some pens made out of pipe and then look at one out of poles I think you will want the pipe pen. I can get you a price on some pipe if you want me to. I sale pipe and fence supplies.

If I had to buy the poles then I would use pipe. I have both and Scott and Joe are both right. The poles I used were free and in very good shape, almost new. The later pens were built with pipe and any new pens will be built with pipe.
 
Hey joe about how much would it cost for a 330'x115' pipe pen be and is it as easy as using wood like would i be able to do it myself??
