I have a very nice set of Elk antlers and wanted to mount them

on the outside of the house. I have been told that I should not as

exposure to the elements will destroy the Antlers. I would like to know

if that is true and if so is there something that I can treat the antlers

with so I can display them over the outside deck. Thank you

I'm no expert, but I wonder if shalack would help? Or...(outside the box here) what about clear treatment you'd put on your deck? If it would stick, that is...

You can treat them with polyurathane or something similar but you wont find anything that will stop them from bleaching. Also the squirrles are almost sure to get to them one way or the other to chew on them. I know because I have a nice set hanging on my barn that I found from a dead bull out west, there pure white and chewed. but if you can keep them away from the squirrles, like under an eve or something, and treat them occasionally they will last a long time but they'll be white.
