Hey guys quick question. We are pulling CIDR's Sunday morning and I wanted to know how common it is for that CIDR to travel further into the doe than when it was inserted? If at the time of removal and the tail is not present what protocols do you follow to remove it?

Not uncommon at all. I usually suggest that you have a good pair of forceps on hand. Be very careful when removing the CIDR with foreceps, its easy to grab and pinch a little skin with them if you aren't sure of what you are grabbing hold of. They work great when those CIDRs seem to work there way inside of the does just a little further then expected. I have had to actually go in with a speculum before in search of a CIDR, somehow it was buried nearly 2" deeper than expected.

Wear sterile rubber gloves for both your protection and the deer. Be gentle when fishing around for a lost CIDR. Try using the tip of the finger to avoid injuring the doe.
