I'm curious to hear anyone's experience with splitting straws and conventional AI. Success rates and ease or difficulty, etc.

Since I started splitting straws only once my ai has been over 90% last 3 years

I also only will split straws one time if the semen count is very high. Most whitetail semen I buy is not able to be split in my opinion. When there is little forward movement and the count is low I will either put it in one doe or just toss it.
We do LAP AI mostly because I can buy that service so reasonable. With LAP AI I can use poor quality semen and still get pregnancies.

Thanks for the comments so far. I have only done Lap AI and was curious about conventional because I could learn to do it myself.

We hit 60-70% doing ******l ai and splitting each straw 1 time. with the price of semen now, we will be putting a full straw in the ones we do ******l. Our high dollar shhhh..tuff will be done lap. I split one 3 ways this yr cuz we had a lil accident and had no choice. we dropped a straw and couldn't find the lil boogar in the hay(i know why they are called straws now) so one doe got the full lost straw since it took 5 people 20 minutes to find it. the last straw got split 3 ways to make up for the other split
