I lost a doe fawn last night. Dog tracks every where around the pens in the snow. I think she hit the fence. Time toget that "special alpo" i guess!

Just got my fly bait! What is the best use for the yotes and wild dogs? Hamburger balls or the pie pan and some soda?

Sorry to hear about your loss. In another post you said that you had shade cloth around your pens. Were the deer in this pen visible to the dogs(high ground around pen that let them see over the shade cloth)?

I have only killed a handful of coyotes, and luckily I didn't have any at the deer farm, but one thing I would worry about when using snares-won't those coyotes make terrible noises when hung up? I would worry about a snared coyote causing more stress on my deer than a free one.

No, once a coyote is snared they will pull tight and once choked they will stop fighting and will quickly suffocate. Only sound is a slight russeling of leaves and that won't last long.

Darn, we just killed another one with mange. Could have sent it to you. It was sleeping in the hay in our neighbors barn. It didn't even go after her little dog that went in to the barn to see what it was. I would still rather see a dead coyote. That makes 5, all with mange.

Once you get the mange in the pack they will spread it. That is why I don't shoot if they have the mange. I figure if I let him walk he will kill more yotes than I can. The severe cold will wipe them out if they have the mange.

If the antis need another reason to shut down deer farming this thread definately gives them one.

Can this thread be moved to the members only catagory?

Sorry to hear about your doe fawn, that is heartbreaking. A couple of years ago we had a pack of 4 dogs running our property. The problem was solved :) An old saying I have heard around here.....SSS :)
