I fed my fawns at 6 pm this evening. Just went to get them out of their outside pen to bring em inside tonight, and the buck went nuts, banging of the fence and running from me. I finally got to him and he was kickin and all that. Got him in and he is back to takin it easy and bein normal. Anything I am missing here? Help would be appreciated.

nope mine do that too from time to time....their just being deer........don't worry they are acting the way they were bred to act

The vision I have of what you described is that Dennis is right. They have a flight characteristic built into them. If they go lay someplace curled up and sleeping and then you come back for them they for a moment forget who you are, where they are, and revert to the flight characteristic. No big deal.

Well I got a lot of vitamin B problems then:D. no seriuos!! Deer can be easily rattled....my guess is he got startled by something earlier before you came and that put him on high alert so he was a little flighty when you came.......we have to be careful not to automatically think they need meds when they act different from time to time......they are deer and deer are a stressful animal....it's in their blood.....just my thoughts!!

He wasn't starry eyed or had a blank stare. I do think he was just startledand got a little leary. We got him inside and he was on high alert for about ten minutes there too! But, after some smooth talking and a little e him ing, he went back into affection mode. Just took his bottle about half hour ago, pooped on his own, then proceeded to lick my face off after. I think he is all good. We will continue to monitor him tonight and tomorrow and see what happens. I know it could possibly be a Vitamin B deficiency too.

Than yes it is a reaction to being scared...That is why I asked if they look blank or empty.

I would say no in your case just spend time with him alone sit on the floor let him come to you...call to him Deer neigh/mama bleat ...make small head gestures... stimulate him...let him lick you...
