Looking for the mixing ratio for xylazine and ketamine to dart deer, Has anyone used this combination?

I've used BAM to knock one down and then administered Ketamine while performing surgery on a buck. Buck was out for close to an hour before reversing. Be  careful when reversing, as Ketamine can cause violent actions when waking due to Ketamine not being fully gone. For a short knockdown I wouldn't use any Ketamine.

Actually I wouldn't use xylazine either, BAM is 100 times safer.

I would NEVER EVER use Ketamine again. I helped someone else who used it on adult bucks. It was nuts! I used it on a fawn once. I damn near cried I felt so bad for the fawn. Ketamine is pure garbage as far as I am concerned.

I'm in Ontario Canada and I can't get bam. sure wish I could get it . The only option that I have is to use xylazine and ketamine or I could go with just xylazine

problem is with xylazine you want to reverse as soon as possible

with ketamine you NEED to let the drug wear off before reversing the xylazine, too soon and you get a violent reversal. Not good.

I've used ketamine 3-4 times on deer we were performing surgery on for extended time, no problems with reversal.

I have seen a fawn killed with ketamine used by a dog/cat vet who read on internet to use it. Ugly, ugly, death.

My favorite is bam but when i don't have it on hand I use straight xylazine all the time without any problems.

Hi Bogart,

As inventors of BAM, I wanted to advise you that our patented anesthesia combination is available in Canada!

Chiron Compounding Pharmacy in Guelph has an exclusive BAM license for Canada.

Just contact them at 1 800 446 8689 and ask for Scott Fraser the PharmD.

He'll be glad to help.

Best,

Steve
