Would love to know what I can do to give some of my deer relief from the flies. I say some because those deer of mine that are accustom to going into a shed and do so find complete relief from the flies. Don't know why really the flies don't follow the deer in the sheds, unless it's the darkness. Is there anything I can do for my deer to relieve them of these toturous flies? I use Malrin and it kills flies like crazy, but I don't believe it targets the type of biting fly that pester the deer. I can't get my hands on all these deer and I don't have a chute, but I am hoping someone out there knows of something I can do without hands on the deer. It's really hot here in Illinois and my poor deer ran often yesterday to avoid the clouds of flies chasing them. I don't like it when one fly bites me, can't imagine the mutiples that the deer deal with. Thanks in advance for your input. Mark

We have too many deer to try to do any sort of individual treatment. We put fly traps up around the pens. You just hang them outside the pen. They are large plastic jugs designed for this. You put a small amount of water in the bottom with some fly bait you can get at wherever you buy the traps. It is amazing but those jugs will fill up with flies - thousands of them - disgusting. You can empty them out and use them again with fresh fly bait and water. We get ours at Fleet Farm here in WI.

I use the jugs that Wild Rivers uses and they do work very well. After they fill up with flies once all you have to do is dump them out and put new water in. The smell is still there and ive noticed that they keep working better and better every time! They work good for us

I add garlic to their feed and use diatomasous earth. It seems to be helping on everything but those horse flies. they will still take a chunk of you. Rick

I just put out my first 15,000 fly predators, I was told by a couple people that these little critters work wonders, guess time will tell!

I just bought a back pack blower that has a misting attachment. I fill the top with 3 gallons of water mixed with permethrin 10% and mist each pen. Only have used it a couple times and have seen a big difference in the number of flys hanging around the deer.

Sanridge I just googled fly predators and went under one of the sites. If u have any questions feel free to call me at anytime at 717-805-3799, good luck with the flies.

I used fly predators for two years. I believe it did help but it didnt get all of them and if you have any farms near you that have animals I wouldnt waist my money. Their flies will come to your place and the fly predators wont kill the adult flies. I still had to spray for flies. The problem with doing both is if your spraying you will be killing the fly predators.

Doug, by saying back pack blower do you just mean a back pack style sprayer that you would use for weed control, or is it an actual blower like a fogged. Would think that could be heavy

Call Paul with north American whitetail protection,i bought a spray system and pump for my pens ,he can put it up or you can install it your self it was a great price i set it for twice a day with 37 percent permeth and dont see a fly one anymore 817-983-8577

Just letting everyone know about our experience with NAWPS. We are located in Southeast Texas near the Louisianna border and we are infested with gnats, mosquitos, fllies & fire ants. Within 2 days of installing our system, ( we did it ourself) we had no gnats, flies or ants to be found! We cannot say enough about how pleased we are with our misitng system. We are spraying Sector as recommened by Paul. It has been one of the best investments we have ever made. Paul Dodrill stands behind his product and he will make every effort to make your sytem work at it's best. If you want your deer to be insect free & to be able to stand & eat at the feeder without being run off by insects give NAWPS a call. 817-983-8577

i use fly predators. they work great. but if that isnt doing the trick then use one of those drops that they use for cattle that will rub their backs and apply anti fly meds. to get them to walk under it you will need to put it by the building and make it where they have to walk through it to get to the feed.
