Hi all how big do the udders go when ready to birth my first year in this and leaning all time and bought my deer in so not 100% if they will be pregnant so getting restless to know if they are going to birth or not they look fat as hell but what's the telltale signs really hope someone can be of help thanks all.

Pacing the fence, laying down away from the rest of the herd and a milk sac looking like its ready to burst. Usually turns a deep pink in color. Just a few things I have noticed. Usually within a day or two until they drop fawns after the above has happened..hope thqt helps alittle. Im sure others will share what they notice..

Above post is right on. Milk bags will very in size but when they start filling usually not long.

Holding their tail out away from their lady parts is a good sign, but some don't "udder up" a lot before they fawn. If you know the does normal personality, just watch for it to change.

Agree with all.  Especially Jeff.  I have a couple of girls on my farm that will bag up 4-5 weeks before dropping.  And I'm talking BIG BAGS!  Others will bag up just a little then drop.  They are all individuals, just like with everything else in deer farming.

Some fill up and others won't fill until the fawns hit the ground. If you notice they are fat, then I would say they are pregnant. I've noticed "pacing" the fence is something nearly all of them do in the day or two prior to fawning. Hang in there, next week is usually the week when mine hit the ground.

This is one of hinds a week ago I'd say she was in calf would you say all the rest are same some bigger even.

they all bag up at different times and different sizes..BUT the one thing i have noticed mine ALL do is pace the fence like they're trying to get out...after they do that it's not long...a day tops. A lot of mine also will go from big and fat to looking skinny. Only thing i can think is they are running long ways with the body getting ready to come out ;)

Joseph, I would say from those pics, babies are pretty close. She's definitely pregnent
