No strings attached - No agenda

Who are/or have been some of the biggest bodied 2 and 3 yr olds? Doesn't matter if they're alive or dead. Only criteria is - 3 years and younger, body weight, and/or bone structure.

Just doing some thinking.

I agree Mike, when i seen a pic of Arty posted on these forums, I said to myself, "That is no doubt the biggest body on a deer I have ever seen", but now that i think of it, Hoss was a giant too...he was said to be about 400lbs. And when you see his pics, its not hard to believe, look him up on whitetail quest, he was from barkley and cole youngs farm.

Hoss was pushing 400 lbs when he was 3. We collected him and it took 4 of us to lift the stretcher, which was bowing! His neck in early October was over 38".

King Kong! 280@1 is a great score, but that was his body weight. You need a frame like that to hold up huge antlers.

I dont know who was the biggest but I do like the heavy deer. Whith all thing's equal when deciding what deer I want to remove I wall alway's let the smaller built one go.

I know RDM Gold Bucky Boys body is huge he looks like a bull. Not sure what he weighs but he is a big bodied deer. It is funny when you see a deer from a distance. If he has a small body his rack looks big then it shrinks as you get closer. If you have a deer with a large body his rack keeps getting bigger the closer you get.

As an industry we have done a very good job of measuring and advertising antler measurements, but have done a poor job with actually weighing and taking body measurements to see really how big bucks are.

Being that I breed for antlers and body size I would love for breeders to include actual body weights along with body measurements in their ads. It would be an excellent way for me to evaluate if a buck or bloodline fits my breeding program. It would only take a few extra minutes to take the measurements required. The stats that I would like to see are:

Body weight: taken with a digital scale

Nose to the base of the tail measurement

Neck measurement taken behind the ears

Chest measurement

Ear tip to ear tip

I have only seen measurements like these advertised just once. I think it would be a very positive way to let people know just how big these breeder bucks really are, and everthing being documented with facts not an estimate or guess on the body size and weight of an animal.

Below are the stats of the only buck that was advertised for the deer industry to see how big he really was.

Weight: 375

Nose to the base of tail: 86"

Neck (right behind the ears): 27"

Chest (right behind the front legs): 49 6/8"

Ear tip to ear tip: 19 6/8"

Those sound like monster bodied deer! We try to encourage body growth and have had some big boys. We have only measured one chest on a buck, and he was like a barrel. Thor had a short body and he never went above 170". But his chest measurment was 54" at 7 yrs old. I posted a recent pic of him on another thread in December.

King kong might have been the heaviest yearling but does he break the 375 to 400lbs as they say arty and hoss does?? I know after he got shot that could have put him back on the pounds!!!!

If you want to find the biggest bodied whitetails on the market don't look further than Battle Ridge Wts! If you've been to Mark's farm you'll have to agree with me that his deer are longer, taller and overall bigger then just about anything in the industry! How else can you produce the biggest bucks in the country with that much consistency? Oh and lets not forget that lil ole farm up there in Wisconsin, Wilderness Whitetails... enormous sized animals. We were lucky enough to breed with the largest direct son from their buck BJ; Slingshot who was easily over 400lbs & was born on Walks farm, lets not forget their buck Loner either, incredible sized offspring! Basicly Geronimo/Little Boomer... if you can name all the big bucks resulting from that cross, well... you'd probably need a few pages to get it done! There's a reason for that, proof on the hoof....

Ill second that with King Kong. He was 280lbs as a yearling. We just collected him a week ago and my goodness he was huge. He had to be well over 320lbs and possibly much more and that is after rutting down. We may have to install a scale this summer to see how big he actually is.

We had a buck called "Bubba" his body was the full length of our Papa squeeze, at age 6 we hunted him on our preserve and there was 205 lbs of meat made into susage

Here is a Picture of Maxin Eagle he is HUGE bodied and his offspring both male and female carry his enourmous build and mild disposition:)

I believe Larry Kleintop Had a Buck die of EHD this year that weighed something like 465 lbs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This thread reminds my of some old Jack Conner stories of a few 500# mule deer he took. He and his ol' 270, great hunter and sportsman. But that's for another thread.
