Doe Sick 4 Days after giving birth!

Hey guys I need some help. I have a Max/Flip 3/4 sister that came off of Waldvogels Farm and had a 280" 2yr old on the ground last year. She gave birth to a buck fawn 9 days ago and then she started to go down hill the fourth day after she had him. I have pulled him and started to bottle feed him. I would like to save this doe as we do not have any doe fawns out of her. I have given her 2 doses of LA 200 (4cc's), and one dose of Draxxin (2cc's), along with 5 cc's of B12. I am at a loss of what to do next. She is slobbering at the mouth and will not get up unless you get her up. She was very healthy before the fawn and I just don't know what I should try. I have not seen her eat or drink. I am afraid to put her down and draw blood, for the fact she probably won't make it though it. I have loaded a video up to Youtube so you can look at her and maybe see something I do not. Here is the link:

Dear Midwest Deer Sales, I spoke to my father, Scott and his recommendation is contact your vet ASAP. Ask if ultrasound and tube feeding and putting in an IV bag would help.

Midwest I had the very same thing a few days ago on an old doe that had twin buck fawns. I ran her in the chute and gave her 10cc of a very strong LS-50 mixture in the rump as well as 5cc of Bio Mycin. I also gave her 5cc of the LS-50 in the windpipe . I wanted to infuse her but I was doing this on my own and didn't want her in the chute banging around very long . I left her out and she was the first one at the feeder the next morning and seems fine today . I was assuming she either had not cleaned or had pneumonia or maybe even had a slight tare in her uderus or something . She was all humped up and had frothing around the mouth and was pantting like a locamotive taking a gravel road (bad)!! It's been real cold here at night so I figured the big temp changes maybe gave her the pneumonia . Just a thought and nothing more !!

Eric i think wooden acres right may have not cleaned out or may have a dead fawn in her i will get ahold of edwin and william detwieler in morning the had similar problem last week i would have vet ready to come out asap in morning i will be gettting a hold of everyone quick as i can get babys fed in morn hang in there buddy W/S " JUST LIVIN THE DREAM"

Gosh am I missing something here ? Should we give our opinions in a private e mail from now on ? I guess I'm a bit confused ! I see more and more guys saying they sent private messages instead of posting on here . Hell I'm old I miss half of this stuff I guess ! Just a thought ..

John, Eric called me back last night and said the doe was doing better and was at the feeder. He figured it was out of the woods after the treatment he gave.

Hello Guys. Thanks for all of the info. The doe seems to be getting better! We are now for sure she has/had pneumonia! 3 cc's Draxxin, 3cc's Batril 100 and 3 cc's Banamine semed to do the trick!

I think everyone, especially Roger And Laurie, as well as John Swank!

I think the reason John sent me a private message is that he was making an assumption and didn't want someone else with a very different scenerio thinking that they had the same thing my doe had. Sometimes we all have to discuss and assess the situation to really get a better understanding what is going on with our animals. It is much easier to talk it over on the phone than to type it all out. Again with out hearing all the scenerio's we could all come to different conclusions and someone might take one conclusion and say that is what is wrong with my animal when in reality it could be something completely different. Better safe than sorry. Thanks to everyone!!!

Eric , hey we're all glad your doe is doing much better. I only mentioned the LS-50 because it has never let me down on pneumonia , cattle ,deer, elk doesn't matter and is always my first choice of defence. You know the old if it's not broke don't fix it !! I know it's an older drug (lincomycin-spectinomycin) and is labeled for chickens but a good shot in the windpipe and they always come out of it the very next day . Your right every situation is different and we all have ideas but it doesn't matter as long as they get better . Again glad to hear she's doing fine , thats what counts she sounds like a good one and those we just can't loose ! Just a thought ..

Now if we can just get you to remove that video from youtube so that the folks looking for information to manipulate, twist around and then use against us, much like the video from the National Wildlife Federation several years ago, - that would be great by me.... :D

Good luck,

John

Thats what I thought John! Please think before you post on youtube for all the world to see. Could be real bad for all of us.

Thanks,

Good suggestion John. I will do that right now. One thing I keep in mind John, we are helping our animals, reguardless of what the anti's think. I don't care if the doe cost $1.00 or $100,000, I treat them all the same. I love them and this industry. I will do anything I can to make their life easier and more enjoyable. I have a five year old daughter and she helps with these deer everyday. She says she wants to be a Whitetail Veternarian when she grows up. Sounds good to me! She is pictured here at 5:30 AM helping me. I can not go out of the house without her. She wants to be there with the deer every minute. GOOD HELP if I ever saw it!

That's what it is all about right there...... :D

Priceless!!!

Good Luck,

Eric, Glad to hear she is doing better. You are right, no matter what we do the antis are always looking for something. With all the time , effort, love, money and care that all of us put into OUR animals I have a special place the antis can kiss. I love the picture. I too have a 6 yr old that loves to feed the babys. He is my best helper ever. We will see you soon at the Oklahoma sale.

Eric,

John took the words right out of my mouth........everytime i see a cute picture like that it reminds me why I am in this business and how much we truly love these animals of ours........Thats our future right there!! Awesome!!
