Does EHD spread through deer?

I'm shopping hard for some deer right now. Our ranch is in Llano Texas. I've heard that northern genetics in texas is highly susceptible to EHD. If I have some deer that are southern genetics and some that are northern, and the northern get EHD, will that spread to the southern deer? via water, feed, saliva, etc.?

I hope that makes sense. I'd like to get some northern stock but don't want everything to die.

I believe the disease is spread from the midge fly from the fly bitting deer and then infecting the deer. The midge fly will spread the disease as it bites any of the deer. The deer have some immunity when deer go through a season from the strain of EHD the herd had. Vaccine does help if the strain is in the vaccine. Now here is where I'm going to piss off some Texas boys. In my opinion if the northern deer had gone through the strain of EHD they would be as immune to the disease as the southern deer. One of my Texas friends just told me that his Texas deer had EHD this last season and he lost very many deer. He had all Southern deer. My guess is he was exposed to another strain of EHD. If the industry can make another vaccine with most of the known strains of EHD this would be the best way to protect your herd from EHD.
